Sare Thorpe

Sare Thorpe (they/them) is a queer nonbinary actor, theatre artist, and the co-founder of Soup Can Theatre. They hold a BAH in Theatre from York University, and have worked for a variety of theatres and arts organizations as an administrator for over a decade. Select directing credits: No Exit, Marat/Sade, Soup Can’s original creation and TO Fringe hit Love is a Poverty You Can Sell, and the annual immersive adaptation of A Christmas Carol at the Campbel House Museum. Select theatre performance: The Really Real Adventures of Scott Free & Will Do (Solar Stage), The Gut Girls (Alumnae), Titus Andronicus (Seven Siblings Theatre), The Threepenny Opera (Hart House), the Canadian premiere of the rock opera Bare, and the world premiere of Tomson Highway’s Pimooteewin, directed by Michael Greyeyes. Select film/TV/webseries: SLIP, You’re Never Alone, Slo Pitch, and M. Night Shayamalan’s TRAP. As a writer/creator, Sare wrote and performed the award-winning solo work Heretic: a modern retelling of the story of Joan of Arc, and last year, they workshopped their co-creation, American Traditional: a theatre/circus piece about tattoo and circus artist Maud Wagner. Elsewhere: Sare is a member artist with Workman Arts, and their drag king persona, Gustav, has performed at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre and drag story time events.
