Toronto, February 13, 2024 – The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (TMChoir) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Daniela Nardi as its new Executive Director, effective March 4, 2024.
Nardi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the TMChoir, celebrating over 30 years of success in the arts and culture sector. Her deep passion for music, coupled with proven leadership skills in programming, producing, marketing, fundraising and strategic planning, positions her perfectly to guide the TMChoir into a vibrant and impactful future, working in partnership with Jean-Sébastien Vallée, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s Artistic Director.
As a choral organisation, the TMChoir goes beyond delivering exceptional performances. It fosters a welcoming community for choristers, musicians, friends, neighbours, educators and creators. Nardi, with her dedication to collaboration and inclusivity, is perfectly suited to uphold this tradition of service.
“I am incredibly honoured to join the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir,” said Nardi. “The TMChoir’s rich deep history, its artistic excellence, and commitment to community service deeply resonate with me. I am eager to work alongside its talented artists, dedicated staff and board of directors, and its passionate supporters to shape an even brighter future for this treasured organisation.”
A Recognized Leader in the Arts
Throughout her career, Nardi has held key positions at esteemed arts organisations, including Interim Executive Director of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Choir, where she guided financial and business operations and led new artistic initiatives. Additionally, she spearheaded the revitalization of 918 Bathurst Centre for Arts, Culture, Media, and Education through strategic partnerships and dynamic programming.
Daniela’s dedication extends beyond traditional arts organisations. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Salone di Cultura, a renowned series fostering cultural exchange between Canada, Italy, and the Italian diaspora. Her dedication to Italian arts is further reflected in her past roles as Chair of the Culture Committee for Villa Charities and Cultural Director at Toronto’s Columbus Centre, where she developed a forward-looking cultural strategic plan.
Award-Winning Musician and Dedicated Volunteer
Nardi’s artistic credentials are equally impressive. As an award-winning musician, she has captivated audiences worldwide with her globetrotting jazz project, Espresso Manifesto, performing at prestigious venues like Koerner Hall, Montreal Jazz Festival and Tchaikovsky Hall. Her extensive network of contacts within the music and performing arts world adds invaluable strength to her leadership.
Daniela’s dedication extends beyond her professional achievements. She actively volunteers, serving on boards, committees, and advisory bodies, contributing to the betterment of the arts community. Her involvement in various associations, such as the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) and the Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA), keeps her at the forefront of the industry.
“Daniela Nardi is an exceptional leader with a unique blend of artistic vision, strategic acumen and community engagement,” said Jean-Sébastien Vallée, Artistic Director. “Her proven track record of success and her passion for choral music make her the ideal person to guide the TMChoir in achieving its ambitious goals, both on and off the stage. I’m thrilled to welcome her as my new partner in the TMChoir leadership team.”
