SUMMARY:Singsation with Kai Leung
DESCRIPTION:Join Kai Leung for a Singsation workshop.\nIt’s a community singing workshop\, and a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning\, with people who love to sing! \nThe Theme: A New Generation of Canadian Choral Composers \nJoin us for an energizing Singsation with conductor\, composer\, and TMSinger Kai Leung celebrating a new generation of Canadian choral composers whose fresh perspectives are opening new possibilities for the choral art form. Together\, we’ll explore music by Sami Anguaya\, Francesca Hauser\, Nicholas Wanstall\, and more\, uncovering the stories\, ideas\, and inspirations that give each work its distinctive voice. Discover your next favourite composer and hear the future of Canadian choral music come alive. \nYour Conductor: \nKai Leung is a choral conductor\, composer\, singer\, voice teacher\, and a baritone with the TMSingers. He is also the Artistic Director of Modern Sound Collective and Oakville Choral. A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Music\, Kai’s compositions have been performed by choirs across Canada\, the United States\, and Europe. \nKai is the 2026 winner of the Ruth Watson Henderson Composition Competition\, presented by Choirs Ontario\, and the 2023 recipient of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s Debbie Fleming Prize for Choral Composition. In 2026\, he conducted the World Youth Choir in concert in Shanghai\, China. \nLearn more about Kai Leung. \nThe workshop will take place in Cameron Hall at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church. \nAdmission: $20 (+ fees) online or $30 at the door \nRegister for the Workshop \nSingsation is made possible through the support of our donors
