Heeseong Lee, a native of South Korea, is a DMA student in Choral Music, minoring in Instrumental Conducting and Organ at the University of Southern California. She is currently the director of the Los Angeles Full Gospel Church Choir and assistant conductor of the Los Angeles Zimyiah Choral and Korean Community Christian Singers in Los Angeles. At USC, Lee was an instructor of Choral Conducting I and lead Conductor of the USC Thornton University Chorus, alto section leader in the USC Chamber Singers and USC Oriana Choir as a collaborative keyboard artist. An active member of international conducting events, Lee has participated in numerous international masterclasses and competitions in the past years. Lee was the Finalist of the 2021 ACDA National Student Conducting Masterclass and was accepted as a Conducting Fellow for the International Conducting Workshop and Festival in Houston and the San Francisco Philharmonic Conducting Workshop. She was awarded the grand prize at both the 4th National Chorus Choral Conductor Competition (2015) and the Jubilate Music Alliance Choral Conductor Competition (2016) in Korea, and was awarded the 2nd prize at the World Choral Conducting Competition in Hong Kong held by WYCCAA (2019) and at the Fosco Corti International Competition for Choral Conductors organized by the European Choral Association (2022). Primarily, she was among the seven conductors selected for the prestigious International Masterclass at the World Choral Expo in Portugal, organized by the International Federation for Choral Music. Under the mentorship of Frieder Bernius, Lee conducted the world-renowned Kammerchor Stuttgart.
