Born in Toronto, Ontario, Matthew Boutda obtained his Bachelor of Music in Piano from the University of Toronto in 2017 and Master of Sacred Music in Organ in 2020. Matthew is currently studying Master of Music in choral conducting at the University of Western Ontario, where he serves as the Assistant Conductor of the Western University Singers. He is also the recipient of the Clifford Evens Graduate Conducting Award.
Matthew is a conductor, organist, and singer. Since 2019, Matthew has been the Director of Music at Leaside United Church, where he plays the organ and conducts the Leaside Chancel Choir. As an avid singer in the Toronto choral scene, he currently sings with the Babεl Chorus, Concreamus Chamber Choir, and Exultate Chamber Singers.
In 2022, Matthew was selected as the Apprentice Conductor for the Ontario Youth Choir and was also the Assistant Conductor for Pax Christi Chorale from 2018-2020. In 2020, he co-founded the Uniting Voices Collective. While studying at the University of Toronto, Matthew sang with the MacMillan Singers.
