The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir is joined by the Minster Singers (of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church) and organist William Maddox for this concert and webcast of choral anthems and an audience hymn sing on Saturday, March 4. The TMC last presented a hymn sing in 2009.
The TMC will perform Durflé’s Introit and Kyrie from his Requiem, Brahms’ Wie Lieblich, Willan’s Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones, and Paul Halley’s arrangement of Jesu, the very thought of Thee. The Minster Singers of Yorkminster Park will perform three anthems, including Morten Lauridsen’s lovely O Magnum Mysterium.
Throughout the concert the audience will be invited to join in with hymns from the newest edition of the Ancient and Modern hymn book, all accompanied by the great Yorkminster Park Casavant organ. The audience will join with the choirs in Praise my soul, Abide with me, O Thou who camest from above, How can I keep from singing, and many more hymns. The Rev.
